THE INSPECTORS’ LODGE
In the Ministry of Leaves I am
a middle employee -
he ants are below me, two or three stars
are above me, each one with a portfolio. We count the veins,
measure the gear wheels of the planets,
keep a watchful eye open but outwardly we look
like anyone else who has never ever
finished anything.
That gives us away.
